Location Guide

Las Vegas has some really popular and beautiful locations as well as several hidden gems. I'm always open to trying new places but here are several tried and true areas that I love! (just keep in mind that not all areas are available all year and some locations require permits or entrance fees at an additional cost.)

Calico Basin

This is the boardwalk area of Red Rock Canyon. This is a beautiful location year round but if you want the trees by the boardwalk to be green you have to book late Spring through early Fall.

Wetlands Park

(additional location fee of $35)

This is a nature preserve in Henderson with a variety of picturesque areas. There is a fair amount of walking required at this location in order to get to my favorite spots but all the walking is on a path with very little elevation changes. The amount of greenery at any given time of the year is unpredictable but if green is important to you, try to book Oct-Nov or March-Apr.

Gilcrease Orchard

(Entrance fee can be $15 during some events, additional location fee of $100 per hour for sunset sessions)

If you have visions of your senior or dance photos being in a field of flowers, this is your best bet in the Las Vegas area!

located in the Northwest, open to public seasonally April-October but open for private sunset photoshoots at other times of the year as well.

Sunflowers are typically available in September and May. Apple blossoms are available for a short 2-4 week window late February to March depending on temperature. It is very difficult to predict the peak bloom time for the blossoms but if your schedule is flexible we can book a slot at just the right time and capture gorgeous pictures!

Occasionally they also have other flower "fields" available. One year they had tulips and one year they had a beautiful batch of ranuculus flowers. There are no guarantees of flower availability in any given year.

Cottonwood Canyon Park

This park in Summerlin has a great mixture of desert scenery and urban vibe because of the tunnel and giant staircase. Its a great place to get a variety of photos without going to separate locations. It also looks good pretty much year round.

Dry Lake

(additional location fee $35)

The dry lake makes for a really dramatic backdrop for Senior or dance photos especially when the sky/sunset shows up for the shoot! It is always windy on the dry lake but even worse in March and April so usually best to avoid booking a dry lake shoot during those months.

Kyle Canyon (Mt Charleston)

(Additional location fee $35)

Kyle Canyon is a great location to beat the heat in August, September and May, but if you're looking for snow, best bet is February or March.

Arts District

(parking fee $3-6)

The arts district is one of my absolute FAVORITE places to shoot in Las Vegas! It's a fresh new canvas every single time I go down there so don't worry about your senior photos looking like everyone else's, they wont!

It's an option just about any day of the year because we're not depending on any trees to be a certain color lol. It can be windy and cold in January but other than that, it's pretty great.

Fremont Street

(parking fees vary)

The Fremont street area of Las Vegas has some iconic imagery for those who want their photos to scream "Viva Las Vegas!" I do not recommend young siblings tagging along at this shoot location. I DO recommend bringing an extra adult for shoots at this location if interested in capturing any of the alleyway graffiti areas. It's generally a safe area but having an extra pair of eyes is always good.

Floyd Lamb Park

(entrance fee required, free with military ID)

This state park in the Northwest has lakes, trees, bridges, a gazebo, old buildings, and a lot of geese and peacocks! Plenty of variety for photoshoots. HOWEVER they do require a permit that can take me up to 30 days to obtain so this cannot be a last minute location pick.

This location looks very different every season. Fall is my favorite!

Corn Creek area

This location is just outside the far Northwest part of town, it has beautiful green areas, pretty fencing, some tall grasses, a cute bridge (I love bridges lol) and desert landscape. The park rangers at this location prefer a quiet bird watching type of crowd but they do allow senior portrait photography.

Aliante Nature Discovery Park

This is where I like to do my mini cap and gown sessions in the Spring but we can do full sessions here as well. It has a pond, waterfall, a couple bridges, large grassy area, and some flowers depending on the time of year. There's also a building nearby with the coolest architecture and dramatic shadows that I LOVE!

Fossil Bed/desert area

So very Nevada! It seems a little bland at first glance but this part of the desert has some really cool rock formations and subtle colors that wont take the focus off of YOU! These sample images were taken in an area up in the Northwest part of town but there are similar spots in other parts of the valley.

Lake Mead

(additional location fee of $35 AND entrance fee of $25)

This area is pretty year round but the water is cold in the winter so I highly recommend Spetember, October, or April/May for this location if you want to get in the water.

The Strip Hotels

(additional location fee of $35 plus parking fees)

Rules for photography at the hotels vary from property to property and day to day. If you book a session at a Las Vegas strip property just be prepared that we may be asked to leave. The best time to shoot at these locations is very early in the morning (6 AM) to avoid crowds.

Flood Control Area

This location is most suited for a dance photoshoot.
